I've been pulling double overhand since I started 5/3/1 which was like a year ago. When I felt grip slipping I used straps(now versa gripps), but still pulled double overhand. No grip training. So a years worth of deadlifting, say 20 reps a week, would be like 1000 deadlifts worth of time under tension using double overhand.
