A good way to work on keeping elbows in? And is it normal to loose strength when trying to keep elbows in?

I wasn't aware of elbow placement until just a few months ago. And even though I'm working on it I feel like I'm loosing strength because of it.

Last question, where should the bar touch my chest when it comes down?
