I'm with the camp that you should be doing most of those things regularly.
Now that said, age, experience, old injuries or lack thereof, general fitness level or lack thereof, etc. all play a part in this too in my opinion. If I was 18 and generally fit overall again, I doubt I'd be doing any of these things, but being damn near 50 and not particularly fit at all, they are pretty much imperative.
