I did it and it helped alot for learning the lifts but i prefer what im doing now which is basically the advanced novice program from SS (with a few extra things, curls ect)but with the rep goal system. SS demands 3x5 but with a rep goal of 15 you can do 6,5,4 or 6,6,3 and still progress. Also if you dont hit 3x5 if feels like a failure with SS but with the goal system even just adding one rep is a win. Its the best system ive used by far.
