I don't know a huge amount about it, but so far I can't see anything to dislike. Seems to combine elements of strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness.
Some of the higher level people are doing very impressive stuff. A 60kg woman overhead squatting 80kg is formidably strong, in my view.
I agree with RGRthat - it's just tribalism.
