I have always had good sessions training fasted. When I do my 6 am workouts it is usually just a cup of coffee before hand. It does take some time adjusting, but I never saw any issues with diminishing strength or additional fatigue. Plus it tends to remove the chance of getting an upset stomach.
You will have an adjustment period if you go the fasted route, so just be aware of that and you're good to go.
