Today's George Peppard fact

George landed the part of James Bond in Goldfinger. However, when filming began, George felt that he needed to bring some vulnerability to Bond, and that the best way to do this was to give him a debilitating stutter.

In one of the first scenes, the script called for George to say: 'The name is Bond - James Bond.'

This is how George chose to deliver it:

Bond: 'The n-n-n...the nur-nur-nur-nur...nnnnn. The nur.......the nurrr...n-n-n-n-n-n. The nurrrrrr [stamps foot in frustration]...The N! The N! The Nurr -nurr [punches himself in face]...The NNN! NNN! The NAARRRR..! [falls to floor, weeping and scrabbling at carpet]...NURRRR![then takes a deep breath, tries to slow his breathing]..THENAMESBONDJAMESBOND!'

Pussy Galore: Pardon?

Cubby Broccoli fired him the next day.

Sunday's training

A surprisingly successful day's training. Surprising because I'd had a stomach bug for three days that really knocked me about. But came roaring back today. V pleased with DB press, though cleaning them up was hard work.
