So if you're transition from a moderate/high carb diet to a low carb diet, glycogen depletion occurs. Glycogen stores water and muscle is made up of a good bit of water (as I'm sure you know). As you drop water & glycogen, there's somewhat of a "flushing" effect. Many people feel like they look smaller when this flushing effect occurs since there's less glycogen and water in your muscles.
