Incidentally, it occurs to me that there's part of The Iliad where Homer complains about today's men not being a shadow of the men that once walked the earth.
This is relevant given that The Iliad is one of the earliest pieces of literature still surviving. If memory serves it was written about 800 BC. So nearly 3000 years ago, men were already complaining that men are no longer as good as they used to be.
