He makes an interesting point about wide carrying over to stones and tire flip, etc. Don't know if it's true, but it sounds logical. I also like that he is saying get better at what you are weak at. That totally makes sense.
However, Poundstone, Zydrunas, Mariusz, etc. etc. etc. all pretty much back squat fairly narrow and I've never heard of them box squatting wide. Maybe they did, but you never see it, nor have I ever seen them use a wide stance in WSM or anything like that. No Sumo pullers either btw. which I think is interesting as well.
