Anti inflamatories (vitamin I for ibuprofen! haha) and ice are your friend when it comes to shoulder problems.
SOmetimes rotator cuff stuff is actually inflamation and the only thing to do other than work around it, is bring the inflamation down. It's not always an imbalance or whatever.
I had an impinged shoulder and it took me a while to figure that out. Just thought I'd mention it to save you some trouble if that is indeed your problem.
