Took the plunge and picked up a single ply ram. I once put 40 pounds on my competition shirted max and lost twenty off my raw at the same time so I have been skeptical of the thing for raw benching. After today, I think it may be better for raw stuff than shirt work. It does two good things: 1. It keeps you tucked and in an optimal bar path for raw benching. 2. It really only helps at the bottom (unlike reverse bands which help the whole way). You feel the weight taking it out of the rack and from where chest transitions to triceps drive. I dont know if you need a double ply one but a single ply one is definitely worth it. It costs 50 bucks which is about what alot of us have wasted on magical nutrition powders and pills. Its a nice addition for lockout work.
