I'd have to be pretty convinced though as I'm not looking to add anything to the budget unless I'm pretty sure it is worth the cost.

Yep, good old rolling pin. Pretty much everyone has one in their house. I just sit down and push around the quad. Sometimes talk the wife into doing the hams.
