Macrotation is a term in Shelby Starnes' (and Steve Colescott's) book of Lean Gains Principals. It goes beyond just carb cycling, it also has you manipulating protein and fats according to your training demands.
I will say this though, I'm not sure that it really makes A LOT difference when you eat or what types of foods you eat at each meal. The big difference for me is that following the Lean Gains eating plan makes me accountable for what I put in my mouth. So the real secret is sticking to a plan, tracking what you eat, and watching the scale for changes.
