Yeah, I think that would provide the most effective way to get larger and stronger overall. 300 isn't a massive amount of weight, and if it's high then it really won't be doing much for you at all. It's simple really, 400 down to parallel will build big legs.
Some video's of your squat form would be helpful in giving further advice.
