I've know of at least two guys walk in the gym for the first time and put up 300 and 350 lbs.
Genetics are a bitch and a fact of life. Yes, I like my work ethic and my stich-to-it-edness, but I'd trade it for a little of those genes being passed around thank you.
The difference being, work ethic tends to have people stick with it, whereas those with apparent genetic advantages don't always bother with the work ethic side of things and will at some point, for the most part, fall away from the sport; so, their apparent genetic advantage then becomes their downfall...but you may still be lifting because of the work ethic.
