If I was doing two days a week as a relative beginer, I'd go for Squats and bench one day, then deadlift and overhead press the other. Both days in 5x5 Bill Starr style. Start every exercise with 5 reps with 35% of 1 rep max, then 5x 70%, 80%, and 90%, 100% etc. Throw in some heavy rows the first day, and some max chinups the second and you're golden.
You didn't mention your goals, but consistent progress on the main core lifts and you will hit them sooner rather than later.
