I feel the same way. Even moderate resistance on a few core exercises seems to help my squat eccentrics most noticeably. I really struggled with squat eccentrics when I wasn't doing any direct ab strengthening work.

Perhaps now it's mostly mental. I still hold on to them like a binky.
