I really would concentrate on just establishing good, healthy eating patterns. That means a hearty breakfast and a further 2-3 large meals with a healthy balance of proteins, fats and carbs.

Extremes aren't sustainable and aren't necessary to begin with. Getting into a good routine of eating good food regularly IS important.
