The poison is not debilitating, unless taken in huge quantities, and is similar to the poisons in poison oak, sumac and ivy. What you eat in most places have been steamed and possibly roasted. If you are allergic to poison oak, ivy, sumac, etc... you may also find yourself allergic to cashews. The rate of allergy to cashews is lower than peanuts and other nuts, but it still happens.
