    Hello,

My recently retired mother asked me to help her find a new refurb (cheap) desktop to replace the desktop she purchased EOL from her then employer several years ago. She says it “so slow”. I suspect the HDDs.

I checked the specs and it was a nice machine in it’s day. I know that for mainstream users computers have been fast enough for a while now. It’s the things like the HDD and memory that can determine how fast a computer feels.

So, with that in mind, would it make any sense to try to put an SSD and install a copy of Win 7 in this machine? From the little research I’ve done so far, it’s looks like about $150-$175 to purchase a 1/2 tb drive and Win7.

I didn’t find the right solution from the internet.
